All this done the competition started. Cowboy trying to ride wild horses, to catch calves with a lasso, to catch a wild cow and milk her and so on. They are perfect horseriders, horse and man seemed to be one.
A great real American evening!
Katrin & Frank are crossing Canada and the USA by bicycle. We started in St. John´s (Canada) the most eastern town on the North American Continent and are biking to Los Angeles in the USA. We started August 10th and hope to be in LA in December 2011. The journey is a longtime dream of Frank and we think the best way to see a country. Katrin is riding a Specialized bicycle with electro support, Bionix, made in Canada. Frank rides a Cannondale bike, made in the US.

Rest, Repair & Rodeo in Amarillo
The unplaned day in Amarillo was well worth it. Of course, we slept a bit longer. But then the bike got fixed again, this time we also pumped some liquid into the tube, this liquid is supposed to seal it in case it is punched.

But the main event was the beginning of the Rodeo World Championship! Great fun. It started with the introduction of all the different teams, many of them coming from ranches all over the country. They all rode into the arena on very beautiful horses, all with cowboyhats and yes, it´s a me´s world. Once they were all in the arena it was time to pray. after that all 4 army divisions (Marines, Airforce etc) were greeted with flags and their own hymne. Of course the veterans were asked to stand up and they got an ovation from alle the people in the arena. We reckoned it were about 10-15 % of all specators standing up as veteran. Finally, the national hymne was sung, now everybody had to stand up and the speaker once again blessed the greatest nation on earth and the land of the free. It was impressiv and certainly one could feel the proudness in the arena.
