Bloomfield to Cobourg (90 km)

We slept in Bloomfield, a small town with artists shops and many B&B´s. Cute little place, Frank liked it alot, even though we didn´t get a place to eat in the town´s favoriste restaurant. Booked out! Hard to believe so remote in the countryside, but it also shows what can be achieved when a business is run very well.
The weatherforcast had predicted a dry morning and wet afternoon, it meant early leaving. So we did and drove in typical fall weather, windy, sunshine mixed with big clouds, beautiful light and leaves being pushed over the road by the wind.
We are now close to Toronto and start to realize this, more houses, more traffic, it becomes urban. Still we drive along the Ontario Lake. With the strong wind in the afternoon, it looked like the ocean, big waves rolled ashore, you could hear them from far.
We had lunch in a little nice coffee, ate a very tasty chilli soup, which made both of us sick for the rest of the afternoon. Something must have been in that soup. With aching stomachs we went on, our target was Port Hope but we stopped before in Cobourg. It was a tropical rain that stopped us, unreal! It came in seconds and just washed us from the road. Even so, with the help of a friendly lady we found a B&B in an old Viktorian House, it was warm and cozy, wonderful. On our way to the B&B we had spoted a restaurant called Matterhorn, which made us curious. Our stomachs a bit better by then, we walked there and the owners are Swiss. And we got a Swiss Fondue! Sometimes we miss things from home, like the good bread, a good newspaper, our family and yes, a fondue!
